At the age of 19, she debuted her first single, Here. The song received praise both from listeners and music critics. In the Canadian Hot 100, and Billboard Hot 100, ranked the single at 19. Even Rolling Stone listed the hit as among top Songs in 2015. The same year that she released Know It All. Scars to Your Beautiful is one of her five original tracks featured in the Billboard Charts, including Billboard Hot 100 in Canada, and Billboard 200 for the Canadian Albums Charts. It was different due to the fact that many listeners were able to relate to the interview she did with rapper Rap-Up on her journey to learn to love and embrace her. Cara has a reputation for incorporating messages about the importance of mental health, kindness and love of self in her music. Her inspiration for her music is derived from her own struggle to conquer mental health issues as well as insomnia. According to a Reuters interview, her album is described as semi-tumultuous and half-perfected. She found growth through therapy and advises people to seek assistance if needed. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto in Canada. She was born on July 11, 1996 to parents with Italian descent. In 2010, her parents bought her a new guitar, which she used to develop her passion for music. When she was 13, she started covering songs she loved on YouTube to demonstrate to the public that she had talent and was able to pursue a career as an artist. One of her covers, Sweater Weather, was the one that got her attention. EP Entertainment gave her an opportunity to develop and compose her own music.
