She released her debut single, Here in 2015 when she was 19 years old. The song was an instant smash and garnered praise from critics and listeners alike. In the Canadian Hot 100, and Billboard Hot 100, ranked the single at 19. Even Rolling Stone ranked the track as one of the year's most memorable Songs. In that same year she dropped her debut album Know It All with the third song Scars to Your Beautiful being one of the five original songs which peaked on the Billboard charts, including the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. The track is special because, based on the Rap-Up interview that she conducted, many of the listeners could relate to her experience in finding love for themselves, as well as doubting herself. Cara is known for incorporating messages about the importance of mental health, kindness and self-love in her music. Her inspiration for her music is derived from her own struggle in overcoming mental health issues and insomnia.
